    Low pressure oil

This time im not posting about my R8 .. im posting about my Audi Q5
Its a 2.0 T i usually do the oil service in a workshop near by since i bought it but the major ones i do it
At Audi Dealer..anyway last week the " low pressure oil turn off car" sign has come
Checked the oil level was FULL !
Talked to the Audi's dealer mechanic ..told me it might be the sensor
Towed the car and gave it to them and they've changed the sensor
Then took the car driven with it the Sign didnt appear anymore
Today while i was driving the sign appeared again !!
That drived me crazy ..talked to the mechanic told me it might be the oil pump and it
Might be not ! He said i dont want to open the engine and change the oil pump and the problem wont resolved so
I advise you to change the Engine !!! What the hell ? He said its better
    My car has 160,000 km
    What do you think guys?
Recenltly im not driving the Q5 because in scared and using my R8 for everything !
Sorry for the long post and appreciate your help and thoughts

    Change the engine??
I don't know the engine but if it were me before spending a ton of money I would prob remove the oil press sensor and screw in an analog gauge and verify the pressure (or lack therof) Does that make sense?

    Re: Low pressure oil

This is actually becoming a common problem with the 2.0 TFSI engine and it's a strange one.

It's easy to diagnose. All you need to do is start the engine and let it idle and then try to pull out the dipstick. If you find it very difficult / impossible to remove then the crankcase breather has failed. If you do manage to pull it out or remove the oil filler cap and then the engine starts to run rough then it's definitely failed.

Whats happened is that the large diaphragm valve in part 66 shown here http://www.oemepc.com/audi/part_sing.../lang/e#sec_66 has failed and the breather is applying full inlet manifold vacuum onto the crankcase. This means the air pressure in there is very low (can damage oil seals) and therefore the pressure control mechanism in the oil pump tries to maintain the same oil pressure i the gallery relative to the crankcase which is now wrong, so the pump gives you the wrong oil pressure and you get the warning light.

I cant find the correct ETKA diagram right now but when the dealer changes the valve you need to make sure you ask for the latest version which is either suffix P or R not the part that ETKA tells them.

    Re: Low pressure oil

I love it - change the oil filter or change the engine... your choice!

Glad to hear it was nothing serious. My wife's Q5 is getting up there in mileage but it's been very reliable for the most part. We'll probably keep it for at least another year since it seems premature to get rid of it (only 4.5 years old). Only semi-serious issue was some kind of hose clamp that failed last year - wasn't expensive to fix, but it did leave the car inoperable and in need of a tow. Other than that, it's been solid. It eats through brakes, though... which may be partly my wife's driving style!
