dropping windows ? and leaking engine bay

Ok last week I thought I was going mad.I had parked up my car gone into a shop and then returned to the car.As I drove away I noticed that the car was really noisy,I quickly sussed that both windows were slightly open, although I had not touched them.I thought it weird but convinced myself I must have accidentally lowered them.
Now today I drove to my local supermarket, went in and when I came back my window was half open and the passenger window had dropped slightly.
Has anyone else encountered this ?

Also It was raining really bad today and I noticed a fair bit of rain had got into the engine bay...anyone else had similar ?

Are you by any chance leaning on the un lock part of the key fob whilst it is in your pocket? If you press and hold down the un lock button then the windows will drop. The other one is if you on getting out of the car buy accident lean on the window switches. They do still work for a time after the key has been removed from the ignition.

Frameless windows usually do drop when you open the door and remain dropped until after it is closed, presumably to prevent breakage when they shut, as obviously the glass is what causes the seal - so the raise again when you get in.

Certainly what used to happen with the TT - the windows *could* be dropped by pressing the keyfob - but also the 'memory' for where the windows should return to could get a little bit upset, so they don't quite return to where they should.

There was a 'procedure' to reset the windows:

    ignition on
    windows all the way down
windows all the way up, let go of switches
push them up again and hold for 3-5 seconds
    ignition off

    That might work...

I had similar problems in hard rain and during car cleaning, posted on the issue some time back.

Apparently it is normal due to the fact that the air outlets on top of engine compartment are really open for maximum exhaust of hot air but do let water in rather freely.

I wonder if Audi has done something to address the water entry problem into the engine bay?

My car, which was a late December delivery, does not seem to have the problem. I have driven it in rain and taken it to the car wash several times. The first time I saw the guy spraying a rinse hose directly at the rear of the car, I was sure the engine bay would get full of water. But when he opened the hatch to clean the inside surface of the glass, everything was dry.

So far the engine bay has accumulated a bit of road salt dust on some of the horizontal surfaces, but that's about it. From a casual glance, the engine and bay looks pretty much as it did when the car was delivered.
