2nd thread.... The Best advice an R8 owner can give...

im so sorry, i first posted this in the mods thread!? whoops my bad, but here it is in the general discussion....

    hello fellow R8 members...

first let me introduce myself, i come from Utah, USA and i work for a financial company called WFG (world financial group) i own my own brokeridge and am branching out this summer with my company.....

well sad to say im not currently a owner of the R8, although i plan to be soon, the waiting list here is about 5 years out, so most likely i will fly out of state or look for a private dealer somewhere

i know you probably get a lot of newbs coming in here and asking this same question over and over.... but what is the best advice you can give me towards accomplishing my dream of becoming an R8 owner?

first things first i am only 19 years of age believe it or not i aspire to become the only 19 year old to have one (or be in the select few)

of course when you hear that you automatically think financially i cant afford it, well soon enough within about 6 months or so that will be a possibility after i move into my new house.... but i fear my insurance will be through the roof! and i really want this car, any advice you can all give me would help out a ton!!

    thanks!

Hard to take you seriously when you can't spell your business...

So, I will offer some (harsh) advice:
    - 19 year olds don't have the maturity to be trusted with cars of this performance level.
    - not sure a 19 year old needs his own house either (must be family money).
    - if you can afford an R8, the cost of the insurance is the least of your money problems.

I would suggest getting 5 years or so of driving and business experience under your belt (just like that wait list you mention), then go for life's big rewards - if you can really afford it!

I'm 22 and mine rate is about 150 a month. Then again, I have excellent credit, and a clean driving history. At under 25, and especially at 19, I would plan on getting screwed big time on your insurance. But then again, what's another $500/month when the car costs $140K?

    1. Buy one
    2. Insure it
    2. Post a picture of it, with a bag of Birds Custard powder on the bonnet

thats pretty impressive, only 22 and you have one eh?
if you dont mind me asking how much are you payments?
and i also have excellent credit, but i doubt my insurance will be that low

hahah. well actually my house is going to be around 210K and 4 bedrooms, 2 floors, i got it with my own funds, and i will be getting this car by myself... i come from a poor family, and i promised myself to kinda breach that curse. this car already means quite a bit to me, its more then just a car, its a goal, and i will achieve it.

the only problem i see myself having, is actually getting the car, money might not be an issue but i cant see myself waiting for 5 years, maybe i will just get a z06 thanks for all your input so far!

When I was 19, I was drinking my ass off in college It's nice to see someone with their goals set at a young age.

I paid cash. I don't recommend financing expensive depreciating assets with high interest rates. Market is **** right now anyway.

If you took a 6 year loan, thats 72 months. $140K/72 is about $2K a month, and that's without much interest. So I'd say the minimum your payments could be is around $2K assuming you put none down.

996TT That is a crazy attitude to take. I am also terrible at spelling and for the record, it has to do with being brought up in the microsoft-word spell-check era though and nothing to do with intelligence.
All I can do is take special-J at what he said as there is no way of telling, on a forum, if he is telling the truth. However, if at 19 you are buying a house and looking at buying an R8 then well done, that is fantastic to hear. And setting up your own business, brilliant!!
I am also young, and if you look hard enough(I went through every insurance company in the phonebook) you will find insurance.
Work hard, play hard, I hope you get the car and I look forward to the pics

What exactly are you asking of us? Are you asking us what we do for a living to afford an R8? If so, IMO, that's none of your business. I come to this forum to interact with the owners that have already taken delivery of their cars, not to be hit up for advice on how to make $. Besides you said you own a "brokeridge" firm that is doing well. What do you need advice from us for?
