I've never been a fan of Audi cabrios and I can't say I'm a huge fan of this, though it really is a bad angel. I'll have to see a profile and a photo with the top to make a final decision.

For me, the coupe will always have better lines and flow, and they are usually usually made worse by soft tops. Murci roadster anyone? Uggghhh.

The article mentions a targa top, but based on the image, I don't see how that's possible unless it's like the Porsche hardtop cover for the cabrios.

Car are convinced that the Spider will have shorter blades than the coupe (implying that Audi won't simply cut a Targa section from A to C pillars, which would surely be the easiest way of making an open-air R8) and will also feature 'speed humps' behind driver and passenger, which might point, like the 911 and 964 Speedster, to a lightweight cover for a simple roof mechanism. Since the first leak of the Spider (no pun intended) Car have said the car is designed for warm climates and the roof will be rudimentary and designed to be left down rather than a convertible which can work well with roof up or down.

I'd sooner Audi went for the Targa option and produced a car that could be used in the rain if need be, with a centre fibreglass piece that could easily be locked in place or stored behind the seats when the weather allows. If they do go down the Speedster route the car might not suit the UK too well!

I'd much rather a targa as well. I've been wanting one since the F355.

Will be interesting to see if it maintains the beauty of the coupe, or if it instead just looks exotic and wild.
