So my dad owns a 2000 A6 4.2 and he's looking for a new car, more specifically an Audi. So for the past couple weekends we've made heading out to the dealership a ritual. So far we've test driven an S5, A5, S6 and we took out and RS4 today. I've been constantly pushing the idea of owning an R8 across him and he seems to think its impractical. He feels that he has to have a car that can tote anything from wood to concrete (he's a general contractor) but we own a mini van, why can't he use that? Then there's the thought that it only has two seats, I've told that he can take my car if he ever needs to (I have a Infiniti G35 coupe). My dad can financially afford this car, I just need some way to push him over the top and own this beast of a car, any suggestions?

This is what I mean. You work for your money, you spend it howeever you like. 22 is impressive.

That's the problem, there's no where to test drive one. I live in Austin, Texas and even if one comes into the dealership, its immediately picked up.

I love my R8, but no, it's not practical, unless you never have more than one passenger, never stock up for two weeks at the supermarket and only rarely drive in town.

I run my R8 as daily transport, and around town and find it practical. My wife has the practical car. Tell your dad from me he will love theR8 if he was to go for it. I still have a huge smile every time I drive it, even after 6 months now.
