They might not kill the R8 but they crippled it, no DSG in the R8 future and the new 911 ans should be announced friday has one...

Not too keen on the spyder but cant wait for the v10!!!!
It is very strange they dont develop a DSG that fits. I would pay a decent premium to get it on my V10. I love manual but sometimes even the purest driver cant be bothered changing gear(usually when hungover I will admit:-p) And the R tronic thing was just too clunky when driving normally for me.

Even if they can't, who cares? The best cars in the world don't have them. I'll survive, as I like a manual 6 anyway.
I do think they will manage to get one in eventually. We'll see.
There WILL NOT be S Tronic(DCT aka DSG) in R8. Why? Gallardo/R8 platform was NOT designed with DCT in mind...
Is that a problem? Yes and NO IMHO. Yes since FL 997 models and Ferrari California GT(awsome car BTW!) are having 7speed DCT. NO since all other mid-engines sportscars do not have it.
Personally I do not like R Tronic, but some people do like it. So, difference is overall feel and expectation I guess...
One other thing that matters IMO-Porsche will build at least 35000 FL 997s per year. Audi will build only up to 7000 R8s and R8 V10s...
I have Rtronic in my R8 with the latest software upgrade and I have no problems with it at all. DSG may be better, but as the current Rtronic is so good (IMHO) I would not be at all bothered if it never appeared in the R8.
It will not be a make or break for R8 buyers. The two cars are still apples and oranges, and I say that owning both.
