    Front bumper's vulnerability?

I am considering between R8 and 997TT, and because roads here aren't very good (lots of speed bumps, sharp hills, road works etc) I was wondering how easily you can hit the ground with front bumper? 997TT has replaceable plastic front lip, so it is easy to change it when get scrathces on it.

After 18,000 miles, I have only touched the front bumper on the gorund a couple of times, and that was when exiting a downhill type of drive onto a flat road. I have never touched a spped bump with it, if that helps

I see you screen name is Cobra. I'm an X-cobra owner and my street clearance in the R8 is better. I was just under my R8 (on a lift) and noticed what looked like sacrificial areas designed into the belly pan. I had to replace the belly pan on my RS6 once and repaired it once. A couple of the areas on the R8 have a softer rubber scoops (flex and return after scrape - still works as an air scoop) and the there are a few hard rubber bumpers that look like they are hard protective bumpers near oil lines or wires. I pulled into a drive way from the road at an extreme angle, and when I departed hour later a car had parked in a position cut of the angle for the backing out of the drive way. There was a serious elevation change between the drive way and the road surface. I scraped the right front nose (non painted area), and pulled black whisker like plastic material on the lowest part of the air dam. Once up on the lift we took a racer bland and cut of the whiskers and it is hard to see the spot.
No damage to bumper or visible marks from standing from to the car..

I don't think I've ever scraped while driving on a flat surface, even with bumps, but I did scrape coming down off a poorly elevated driveway once or twice. Speed bumps, train tracks, and bumpy roads won't be an issue if you take them more carefully.
