    Thumbs up Superchips Remapping

    Guys,

Just to let you know that after 3 days work, my car now has the map that Superchips are about to offer to the public. The map can be uploaded through the diagnostics port (under the dash), so no need for a significant disassembly, as mine went under.

It is a further development of the RS4 map, and delivers about 20 more BHP and significantly increases torque bringing the serious kick the engine has, down from 4,500 rpm to 3,500 rpm and makes the car much more drivable - in fact, now as pleasurable as the RS4 engine is. For your info, the R8 has two seperate ECU's for each bank of cylinders.

A much needed mod, and I would like to thank Ian, Peter and Scot for all of the work they did working blind with my car.

Not sure on costs yet, but expect £300-£400 as a guess. Contact superchips on 01280 816781 for further info.

No way to get this in the US? I'd like an ECU tune, but I don't know of anyone in the US doing them.

r*jon - i'd like to get this done. Would you let me know what downsides to expect please too. Do superchips have a bhp/nm map against the original by any chance?

You can do it now. Contact any of the centres and they will do it - £399 IIRC

I may do mine soon but waited until the car's first service

Superchips will be having the maps on their site, I have print-outs, but not electronic copies.

Will Audi do a remap at service? I don't think they can tell it's been done - correct me if I'm wrong - but I remember an ECU update on RS4.

If that happens - are we out if luck, or do Superchips offer a reload for free?

    Re: Superchips Remapping

I'm sure this is a stupid question, but why isn't Audi building the R8 like this ? It can't be that they do not have the engineering resources.

    Any downside ?

I think it was deliberate to make you want to rev the brazils off it
