Radar detector install help??

Hi,

I need to install my front antenna but I have no clue yet if I need to remove the bumper, or if removing the interior trim of the luggage compartment I will have access to the space behind the front bumper air vents.
Or I can remove the bumper plastic grills?

Any DIY on this subject?

And for the 12v, what the best place to connect it, in the fuse box?

I have installed a laser jammer in the front grille right under the license plate. Electrical connections : from a connector under the cover next to luggage compartment. In order to get access to assemble we had to remove the front bumper completely, and for that one needs to remove all 3 covers next to luggage compartment. Lot of screws, and painful to put it back in place again, but we found no other way.

Thats what worries me!
In my A6 I managed to install the antenna without taking out the bumper, but in the R8 it looks a bit more complicated and without space for installation!

Sorry, no pictures. The whole process took about 2 hrs - with much time spent on levelling (this jammer need perfect horizontal position and look precisely forward). The thing is that you cannot level the **** thing after re-installing the bumper (at least not with our simple holder), so we had to level it on the bumper that of course sits differently on the floor...
My biggest help so far in all small DIY activites was the R8 repair guide from http://www.bentleypublishers.com/. Worth every dollar - even with their overcomplicated activation-deactivation process.

In the midst of installation of Passport 9500ci jammer and detector. Can anyone offer help as to where best to run the wires through to the fuse box? Is it necessary to disconnect the battery? Is there a way to keep the power so as not to lose all the stored info?

Run it thru passenger side A pillar, kick panel and to the fuse box. Very easy.

Metallized windshield?

I have installed the 9500 ci and am not getting GPS. It mentions in the manual that it will not work with a "metallized" windshield. I called my dealer and they do not know if the R8 V10 has such a windshield, although they think not.
Anyway, my GPS does not work, and I am wondering if anyone knows for sure.
I bought the 9500 ci primarily because I could lock out false alarms. Without GPS, of course, I cannot do it.
I will try different locations for the GPS unit, but its original position seems to have a clear view of the sky.
