Rattling Shifter

Quick question:

I have 2009 6M R8. Still in break in period but I have noticed that sometimes when in third gear and the rpms fall to 1800-2000 the shift will vibrate causing a noticeable rattling in the gate. I have not noticed it in other gears.

I know some of you will say that I should not let the rpms fall that low in third, and I agree that you would not want to drive at that speed normally but the engine is running perfectly smooth at that speed.

Any similar experiences, comments?

I have experience something similar but not exactly the same. My symptom is 3rd gear sometimes fail to engage and will pop out out gear once in awhile if I am not careful and make sure it is in all the way. I do notice that it vibrates more in 3rd than other gear but not sure if this is what you are referring to. BTW, I met another R8er who also has similar problem as mine so mine is not a one off thing. I have since complained to the dealer twice and as usually they found "nothing wrong"....

Mike, can you give us more detail on the "call back"? Thanks.

i will get the papers from the Garage then i will post what excatly they change, some are very little like drilling holes in the lower engine cover to that rain water gets out and so on.

These are vey minor modifications to the early R8's, nothing serious, or anything to do with rattles or popping out of gear.

they had to change a little motor on the hydraulic system as the metal contacts are getting loose and the car will not shift anymore and end up in the emergency mode ( only 1 2 3 and R ).
I was happy because it happened 24 km from home when i arrived at Audi they told me to change this little part is part of the modifications they have to do.
