Plates in the UK are very expensive ... especially ones like R8 ...I assume each US state can issue R8 without problems ??

For a one-time cost of EUR 50 you can order any available registration number in Luxembourg. It does have to be part of an existing series though, starting with two letters and ending with 4 numbers.

I guess you could order something like AR8000 for example.

Yes, I would guess R8 would be worth > $200,000!

For example, MR 51 NGH (Mr Singh) went for over $500,000 in 2006!
