R8 Prices Through Out the World

Here in the UK prices have dropped considerably for the R8, asking prices can be upto £10k - £15k below list price (list starts at £75k). They were originally trading at +£15k premium on a new one.

Now it is quite easy/short wait to get a new one and if you push your luck at a discount too.

Credit crunch is hitting the UK - how's it effecting the rest of the world ?

Were the list prices similar to others around the world ?

Sold out for at least a year here in the US. Dealer told the latest guy he's got about 1.5 years. Prices will never be discounted.

I think you are right about the CC in the UK with many a punter thinking they will make a bob or two being caught out.

If Audi are wise they will move production to other markets in the short term

Yes, but Audi still earn much more from a UK or European car than they do from one sold in the USA, as US retail prices are much lower.

Being an expatriate Brit who is now a US citizen, I can help translate:

A "punter" is a gambler (not an American football player)

A "bob or two" can be translated roughly as "a fast buck"

US prices are still strong. While many dealers have been selling at MSRP due to Audi pressure dealers are still asking for premiums on used cars. My dealer sold a used 2008 R8 with 2,500 miles for $30K over MSRP last month. Another local dealer sold another 2008 for about $40 over msrp last week.

I doubt that will continue for much longer but for those of us who bought at msrp I think we did all right although I for one have no intention of selling anytime soon.
