Ordered my R8

Hi, this week I have paid my deposit and now I am officially on the R8 Delivery List.

My decision to purchase was very quick after a test drive and reading all the positive comments on this Forum and elsewhere.

Until I drove the R8 I was convinced that my next car would be a new 911, after having driven both the R8 in my opinion is in a different league, perhaps the 911 has just had too many revisions whereas the R8 is a fresh modern design.

Now the wait begins, should take delivery in Sept 09, plenty of time to play with the spec and enjoy the next 12 months looking forward to the day when I collect the car.

I believe I have found a very good dealer: Lincoln Audi in the UK where Chris has been very knowledgeable and helpful and has already spent time with me and arranged two test drives.

At the moment I think Ibis White with silver sideblades will be my choice, or maybe ice silver, or maybe ?????

think about extra leather every where (my only regret), deviated stitching (i have and love but would've been better id the dev. stit. is every where as well).

rear camera is my wife's favourite.

im amazed they have enough models to have a test drive in over there. even if they had a new one here, they likely would not let it go for a test drive. used maybe but not new

I am also torn between white and silver, but the Daytona with CF does looks cool too... silver, white, daytona... 1.5 years...

Was it the new 911 you tested ? The new model just released is supposed to be a serious bit if kit.

this is exactly what i did.

Both R8s that I drove were Used Models, the Manual model was one that the Owner had given back for financial reasons (Credit Crunch?) and the Rtronic was a 2007 model. Manual would be my choice. The Manual was sold the day after I drove it.

The 911 I drove was the new model S with the PDK Gearbox. A very quick car but heavy and compared with the R8 a very old fashioned interior.

Delivery seems to be 12 months in the UK, the dealer told me that Audi UK have over 800 orders for the V10 and he expects the demand for V8s could increase when the V10 deposit holders realise how long they will have to wait.

Different story with Porsche, almost immediate delivery for a 911 (2-3 months) and I have been called twice within a week by Porsche Marketing asking if I would like a 911 for a 24 hour Test Drive! I believe Porsche are experiencing difficult times.

Your comments regarding leather are interesting if I have the cash available I would like to go for extended leather and many of the interior leather and carbon options.

That is nice. I love it, is that white on black? Hard to tell from the shots. Do u do stitching on the door and dash too?
