    New R8 - Stone Chips

Got my Silver R8 last week, 400 miles later I've noticed some 10 stones chips - from the bumper, bonnet to the roof!

Anyone else noticed the R8 seems to pick these up more than most?

Have now decided to get the Ventureshield protection fitted before the car receives further damage.

I did the ventureshield partial bonnet/hood cover and it's saved tons of paint chips given how low the car is and how much shrapnel there is on the country roads around here.

If i were doing it again I'd get the full bonnet not partial though as that line running a foot from the front is annoying and make sure you get the best possible finish on the paint before it gets sealed under the film.

Don't lose sleep. I have tons of nicks all over it. It sits low and goes fast. It happens.

On white it's even less noticeable.

I haven't collected but one chip on the hood of my silver R8... It was within one week of owning the car. I've had it almost one year now. I have two under bumper scrapes, no biggie.

In over 12,000 km I collected about 3 which I still have to repair. On a white car it should be pretty much invisible with touch-up paint.

I considered the film but dropped the idea since according to the supplier it will get more and more visible over time on white

Have had Ventureshield now fitted to bumper, full bonnet, A-pillars, roof, headlights, sills, mirrors and the front panels behind the front wheels - work done by Bodyguard UK, looks good, cost £800 - no more chips, I hope!

Can someone with a white R8 post some pictures of the clear bra installed? I just saw a black R8 with clear bra and it seemed to show and give a different texture than the non-covered parts. Is a white car with a clear bra less obvious?

Yes, pretty much invisible. If you only cover half of the hood, then you can see the line but only from certain angles (looking forward).
