there doesn't look to be any glue - there are white lugs that move freely up and down inside the 6 recesses and the button plate fits back when the lugs are all at the bottom but it falls back off again as there is nothing to keep it there.
It feels like there should be some way to force those white lugs up to lock the button section to it, but there are no visible signs of a way to do it

I've had this happen on my A4 before. took it to the dealer and they covered it under warranty
