SAt Nav Version

Hi,

I am looking at purchasing a used R8 and wondered what the latest Sat Nav disk is?
Also what type of sat nav disks are they as I have got the latest 2008 in my M3, will this work in the R8?

Sat Nav disks are DVD. The unit is a Blaupunkt and sat nav mapping data is by Teleatlas.

You can buy DVD's direct from Teleatlas, if desired.

Not sure where you are (?), but UK/European cars have all of Western Europe on the DVD.

I very much doubt BMW DVD's will work. They are generally coded to work with specific car manufacturers.

Anyone know if you can get speed camera data? Rather important in an R8!

As far as I no, you cannot. This function is not supported by Audi/Blaupunkt

If important, use a small Navman, TomTom or similar with this feature........

I wonder though that as the unit supports POI, then the speed cameras could be added as POI items. I don't get my R8 until May, so I don't have the DVD to look to see what files are on the disk.

What I'm thinking is to burn a copy of the DVD with the POI database updated to include speed cameras.

Telatlas is used by TomTom and they do have this option....
