Can the reversing camera or bluetooth be added afterwards

Hi,

Does anyone no if its posible to buy the camera and or bluetooth module so that it can be added to an R8 that didnt have them?

I would presume they must just be plugin modules to the system allready in the car.
One audi dealer said it couldnt then after speaking with Amari cars they say they can have the camera module added on.

Is the wiring allready in the vehicle for the camera?

The camera shouldn't be a problem, but the bluetooth may be pretty tough

If the car doesn't have parking sensors already then you'd presumably also need new bumpers with the relevant holes for them and the button to activate it manually.

as per the workshop notes, the camera system (excluding parking sensors) consists of:

Reversing camera -R189-
Reversing camera system control unit -J772-
Navigation system with CD drive control unit -J401-
Steering wheel with steering angle sender -G85-

the bluetooth system has quite a few parts too:

Phone pre-installation
Telephone transmitter and receiver unit -R36-
Aerial amplifier for mobile telephone -R86-
Radio/telephone aerial -R51- (GSM)
Telephone bracket -R126- with mobile telephone -R54-
Microphone unit in front roof module -R164- (telephone microphone -R38-)

The telephone transmitter and receiver unit -R36- is fitted with a Bluetooth aerial -R152-. This enables all mobile telephones -R54- approved by Audi with Bluetooth interface to be operated with mobile phone system installed in the vehicle.
It is not possible to connect up other devices via Bluetooth, for example headset, laptop or PDA.

there are 3rd party solutions like the ones from parrot which might be ok though.

Thanks for the replies.
The car I am looking at now has Bluetooth and reversing sensors but no camera.
I was hoping the loom may have allready been in the car for the camera.

Do you think it will be quite straight forward to install, I did used to be a vehicle technician and design vehicle security.

hmm, sounds like quite a bit of work and the need of a computer with Audi software to program it.

Where did you get this info from, do you have a PDF of a workshop manual?

it's not a pdf it's a software program that covers all audi models - you can get a copy through ebay

Does anyone with an R8 and no camera no whether the loom is run for it into the rear position as if it is I will look into buying the parts and adding it myself.
