V10 in First Quarter 09

A pal who ordered a V10 18 months ago has been contacted by the Dealer and told that it may be available first quarter 09 and asked if he still wants to proceed ?
When he asked if they therefore wanted him to spec' it for production they said "No , we just want to check that you are still interested ?

My interpretation is that Audi are getting jittery in the current economic climate and are hastily putting together revised sales projections and manufacturing schedules ?
Perhaps even reviewing the whole strategy of how to take the R8 forward

makes sense - there are lots of used r8's on autotrader now at a big chunk under their cost new, so that combined with the economic climate has got to be making some people question buying the v8 r8 new which will open up capacity/motivation to try and drive additional sales through the v10.

might be different in the us, but in the uk autotrader.co.uk has over 100 used r8's listed so it's hard to play the "rare" card to potential buyers here.

I’ve had it on very good authority that V10 prices will be released in Jan 09, and first cars will be in the uk June / July!!

I do not get this, don’t these people check before they set their price? As I mentioned before, I bet these are the same group of people that would tell me things like some of their customer aren’t effected by these economy.

I was born in CA & spent most of my life in SoCal. Desert European is in Rancho Mirage, the "new" Palm Springs. Most full time Palm Springs residents are retired, live in a condo and on a fixed income. The big estate & land owners are the Hollywood types that have second, third or fourth? homes and these folks DO impulsively consume. The Palm Springs business model is built around this and is a testament to "retched excess."

That said, let's watch the ad - $169.9K on 11/17.

As i have already posted in another thread, there is a post on RS6.com by someone who visited the factory and saw that the V10s are already being produced. If it's true, that's some encouraging news!
