lots of questions regarding purchasing a R8

1) went to a audi dealer over the weekend to look at a R8, the sales man describe the car as a very quite sports car. How would these guys know if they never have driven the car since the non of the audi dealers allow test drives?

2) How can I get a test drive on a R8, or even a ride, any NYC guys on board that can offer me a ride for a few mins? would really appreciate it because this is going to be a expensive purchase.

3)I drove the Gallardo E-gear. Its all around perfect car even though the fastest I ve been in this car is 80mph. I felt so involved in driving this car. I can hear the loud exhaust note 5 blocks away. just simply amazing! the only down side is its a used. The dealer is asking $135k. Also, I cant put more than 20,000 miles on it or else its worth nothing! Whos going to buy a 20,000 mile Lamborghini? Am I correct? Is it going to worth around $80k...

4) I know for a fact that most dealers in the north east are offering R8 at MSRP. How would I ask for a discount, if any?

5) The dealer told me if it is custom build , it will take 6 months. Is this reasonable?

6) R tronic or 6speed. I hate driving the 6 speed because I suck at it not because its no fun. Is this a good reason to go for a R tronic, am I not going to get as much fun in the R tronic? Should I get a boxster in the mean time and see if I really enjoy the 6speed before I spend the $130k?

7) New or used. I see plenty on autotrader, 08 with a few thousand miles for $125-130.. or just wait 6 month for my own car. OR there is a 09 white/black for $145k loaded. Is $145 worth it?

8) How is the driving dynamic compared with the Gallardo and 997 TT? I see plenty of TT for $100k on autotrader. Would you guys rather get the TT for now and wait for the R8 depreciation to hit bottom? $100k for a TT is such a steal right now.

I like to think ALL dealers are now asking for MSRP. MSRP started about a month, anyone one here getting under MSRP yet? If the car is sitting on the floor, I don’t see why you can’t just make them an offer? I am sure they rather sell a $100K+++ car than have it sit there no moving.... and costing them.

I am not sure anyone can answer the “Is it worth it?” for you. It is worth it for me because it is a kick ass car and I worked hard for it.

Do a search for the AUDI track experience. You will get to drive a R8 for a couple of days, and also learn how to improve your driving skills as well. And you will then have all the relevant info that there is.

No reason at all to not ask for a discount from list in the current market - the moment you drive it away it's going to lose money like everything else and it's not like all dealers have the luxury of a queue of people willing to pay over list for it right now - that was last year.

6 mths for a custom build sounds right and is another sign of the times as it's a big drop from last year too where 12-18 months was often being quoted.
