production slowdown?

Has anyone heard word on a slowdown of production for the R8? I was supposed to have mine arrive in late January/early February but I got a call from the dealership that my car was bumped to May. The word to the dealership from Audi Canada was reduced production, I'm curious if that is really the case (retooling part of the line for the V10?) or if there was a shift in allocation.

Really? You are promised Jan/Feb and they moved it May? A Jan/Feb delivery should be a Nov build, which is what my status is showing. Anyone in the US getting the same info? I did not mind picking up mine a little later in this economy, but I am looking forward to it in Feb...

That seems to be the reverse of other reports as more cars are available as the Credit Crunch hits and people pull out

My October build was shipped 11/14/08 for a 1/1/09 delivery so I must have missed any slowdown?

It will be just the standard build and delivery time by next yr(3 months?) or your pick from the one sitting in the showroom.

Yeah, when I put my name in the ring for an R8 last June, they told me 2 years. I was surprised when they called me 2 weeks ago saying I was #1 in the queue and to expect the car in Jan/Feb. Even with the bump to May, that is still over 1 year sooner than anticipated (not that I'm complaining, the January delivery meant I would have had to sell some stock, not the best choice these days...)

It will be interesting to see how what the resale value is like 2 to 3 yr down the road. Lower production of the V8 and release of V-10 will mean less V8 around, and might help with resale value, at least better then a Porsche

I ordered my R8 in August 2007 and the dealer recently estimated next spring. Last summer my salesman moved to another dealer and he called me last Tuesday and said they had one on the floor and I could have it for sticker. I picked it up the same day and I am very, very pleased with the car. It is all black with all the options except CF interior. It has the manual trans. I'm in So Calif, but still getting a lot of looks and camera phones.
