To Cover, or Not to Cover?

I have ALWAYS used indoor, cotton flannel car covers in the garage and never consciously covered a dirty car. I have a meticulous washing technique and wash the car covers frequently but over the years, in just the right light, I notice the finishes do exhibit some very fine scratches. Probably to be expected, and they are minimized after a good waxing, but I suspect these are created by using the cover when the car - or cover - is not absolutely clean. I think I'm going to try not covering the R8.

    Who's covering & who's not - and why?

Left mine outside for 11 months didn't wash it that much (way more than I have any other car though - never went in a car wash either) - its a car it is meant to be outside getting dirty!

During winter, while mine is in the garage, I am covering it with the Audi "silky" cover ... it has a fleecy interior. To avoid scratching I try only to put it on when the car is fairly clean. Since I am only driving it occasionally (dry days when the roads are not too salty) I am using the cover to keep dust off and to stop my dogs scratching it when they run in and out of the garage.

Leave mine outside on the drive uncovered all of the time. Gets a professional hand valet every 2 weeks, but other than that nothing. It's only a car after all.
