Distortion B & O

hey guys, new to this site!

got my r8 a few months ago, its now done 14K, (bought at 11K). having a problem with sound distortion on high bass with the B & O system. was occurring on both door panels (i have carbon inlays) and audi changed the panelling as there was an issue with the clips. its much better but there is still vibration/distortion around the left door on high bass, anyone else noticed this. My dealer master technician fobbed me off by saying i should turn the bass down and its the way the car is. I had a logic 7 system on my bmw 6 series and that sound far superior. some comments from other users would be helpful.

Never had the problem using either SD Card or Cd.

I play my system loud or sometimes LOUD with music ranging from Classic Rock to Greenday etc.

My BASS setting is usually at 2 lines from max and I am delighted in its performance as a "Car audio system"

thanks gazza, there must be something wrong, the dealer suggested the carbon inlays may be to blame, in which case there is nothing that can be done! somebody somewhere on this site needed to have their speakers replaced, i want to hear from him/her......

I have had the rear speakers replaced twice, once after delivery about 18 months ago and just again last month. Both times their was too much distortion on the bass at slightly higher volume & on some particular bassey tracks (by the way I am not the kind of person who just wants their music loud and bassey all the time). I have had no problem with the door speakers, but the ones right behind my head have been a big irritation at times, it sometimes sounded if their was a loose screw rattling about, but this was not the case on inspection each time. I do sometimes wonder if these high end systems are really up to it in such a confined area?

did replacing the speakers rectify the problem? there are certain tracks i skip because they sound really bad when the bass/volume is turned up.

May I ask what you paid for your used R8? There has been a great deal of talk on the site that pricing is falling quickly. Are you located in the US?

£70K, im in the uk, bought august 2008 from a maserati/ferrari dealer, it is a sep 07 model, prices are falling a bit but i would not say it is a rapid decline. i have seen similar examples of my car selling now for 65-70k depending on dealer and spec.

Speakers are ok at present

I have the Full Carbon Interior. As an experiment I turned up the bass all the way and played at full volume . No buzzing or vibration.

I put it back to flat, as I like the way it sounds better. I do occasionally play at very loud volume, never had any problem.

I do notice some rattling at high volumes with the based turned up, but I have it in all of my cars when you turn the volume up that much.
