Evidence that Big Brother is Listening?

There's a brisk discussion going about the lack of factory supplied jack in US spec cars.
    R8 has no jack?

Yesterday, Jan. 11, about 9:00 local time (17:23 GMT to be precise)
I posted the fact that the Audi USA web-site, (under R8, Specs, Safety, Tool Kit), showed and stated that the R8 tool kit included a jack. I was looking at the web site as I posted.

This after-noon, about 16:00 local time (24:00 GMT) I got an email from another forum member, pointing out that the Audi USA web site, NO LONGER showed a jack as part of the tool kit!! I checked and he's correct!!

Now you might say that it could have been a coincidence, as people on the fourm have been telling us their R8's were shipped without a jack during some months in the past. And maybe, just maybe, January 12 was when they decided to correct the errors in the web site. But, there's also a glaring error in the engine description (describes the 4.2 v8 as having a cast iron block and timing belt). That error is still there in the R8 specs, but the jack, lack of which was the subject of much complaining , has mysteriously disappeared!

So, if you wonder if Audi marketing watches these posts, there's your answer, I would propose.

I e-mailed Audi Customer Care regarding this issue on the 10th after reading your post, and everyone else's. I'm sure R8TALK is monitored by numerous Audi Management & Sales staff - and this is really to our benefit.

I'm in the IT business. We all know web sites are updated frequently but if anyone ever says the AOA web site never stated a jack was included for US cars, send them here!

It's still listed on the Audi Canada website, I grabbed a screenshot of that before it gets changed too. I'm not sure if the jack/no jack is an issue up here, I guess I'll have to wait till May to see.

4 months ago the dealer that delivered my vehicle agreed that a jack should most certainly have been provided..they took care of it and the jack was delivered..I honestly thought it was an oversight as did they..regardless the dealer made it right.
I will leave the dealer nameless..no reason to put them in the middle.
If Audi won't do the correct thing , I would approach the dealer and simply ask " how many cars ( Audi or otherwise ) are delivered without jacks "..the dealer shuld have noticed this in delivery prep..
I can't imagine dealers will not ask Audi for the jacks and if declined..invest a few bucks in owners that purchased their most expensive vehicles. Good Luck.

it's funny that they just removed the specific text but left a misleading statement and picture that includes a jack:

"The tool kit lets the driver...changing tires...it contains all the necessary items" - a jack is a pretty important part of changing a tire unless you're supposed to somehow lever the car up with a screwdriver.

This thread also provides evidence and actual locations of references to these items - USE IT to get what you believe your R8 *should* have from the factory.

This internet tool works *both* ways - FOR big brother and FOR us ;-)
