    Heated Seats retrofit

Just found an R8 i'm interested in.
Has the spec i'm after but no heated seats. I love my heated seats.

Do you think they would be easy to fit.
I dont know how easy the leather comes off the seats.
I used to be a vehicle technician, took plenty of seats out but never looked to how the covering is fitted on them.

Does anyone without electric seats know if the wiring is in place behind the switch blanks?
If so I would then buy a universal kit and try and fit them myself.

    thanks

    Dave.

    Re: Heated Seats retrofit

    Hi Dave,

You seem to be searching for your "exact" spec, B&O, CD changer, heated seats. etc. I wish you luck finding it.

Some car manufacturers have a universal wiring loom. Others do not. Since these cars are built to customer spec, I doubt they will have redundant leads and connectors. An Audi tech would be the best person to ask.

I have heated seats and they are nice. I guess the heating pad in buried in the middle of the seat, so not sure how much of it you have to take apart.

One thing you overlooked is the switches for the seats. These are rotary drum type switches that go on the panel just behind the gear stick.

So, best case, you are going to have to get behind this panel to fit the switches and pull apart the seats. Worst case, you will need to pull apart the seats, wire to the seats, fit the switches and wire them to the fusebox (behind passenger footwell).........

    Good luck !

    Re: Heated Seats retrofit

    Thanks R8,

I am fussy. Every car I have found so far has had one option missing that im after. For example one car had every extra and no bluetooth, another had loads of extras no B&O and this one has all that I want but no heated seats, and would you believe a car that ticked all my boxes sold 20minutes before I rang and they had it for sale for 3 weeks. Typical.
Maybe I should settle for this one and a hot water bottle.

    Re: Heated Seats retrofit

I personally do not recommend retrofitting the heated seats. I think you should find an R8 with the specs that you want. There are tons out there right now.
