    No to V10 deposit!

By next Friday I have to increase my deposit and confirm the spec. for my V10, if I want to take delivery at the end of 2009.

I have decided not to go ahead at this point in time.

I am not convinced that in the current financial climate the take up for V10's will be that good and that Audi may have second thoughts about building the V8s that they have orders for, including mine! So I might get a V8 in September, which was my original delivery date.

However I might be totally wrong and when I see a V10 and lust after one I will be very annoyed that they are on 18 months delivery!

    What do people think?

Had same problem. Just could not wait that long. And the V8 is enough power for me and does not look that much different.

In the Motoring section of the Saturday Telegraph, in the article 'Mr Money', Mike Rutherford claims to have seen a new, delivery mileage only V10 R tronic on sale for £92950.00, over £12k off list. Is this possible? Would this change your mind??

Why would there be a 12k discount on a car so eagerly anticipated and not even available to people who've been waiting years to take delivery?

doesn't help that I wouldn't trust rutherford to tell me the time let alone anything else though...

So I might get a V8 in September, which was my original delivery date.
I guess it depends how you've specced up the v8 as there could be a relatively small difference in price given the v10's extensive standard kit. come resale time imagine how many used v8's will be out there vs used v10's - there are already well over 100 used v8 r8's on autotrader.

I'm with you on this, i have decided not to go forward with my V10 order until this time next year or a least wait to see how the economy fairs.

I'm a builder primarily and new bank funding has literally disappeared, buzZ word for the interim few months is 'Cleansing period'.

I spec'd my V10 to over £125k, it's now one year since i took delivery of the V8 which i still love, but losing 42k this year alone has stopped me buying the V10 so soon.

There is no justification for losing 42k this year and over fifty next year on a second car .

The V10 is great car but my sensible head says that spending that sort of money means it has to be a LP560-spyder or a heavily deprecated R8 V10 speculators car.

"IF" the U.S. price of the V10 is around $170,000, I would rather add a little and buy a low mileage second hand LP560 coupe.

I've gone ahead and ordered the car. I'll trade in my R8. It's too much car to pass on.

No question the Audi pricing of the V10 will put it into an entirely different market..I believe this will help retain the value of the R8 market ( if continued production)..particularly in the US.
Pre-owned Gallardos & Ferraris would then be in strong consideration. Consider the number of "garage queens" in the Us market, a near perfect car is always available with low mileage. Now factor in the economic crisis and availability of these cars will be higher than normal at very reasonable prices..(IMHO)
I do not think the market for V10s will be nearly as strong as first generation R8s.

I agree, used LP's and 430's will be strong competition and provide some nice buying alternatives.

A low mileage 430 coupe can be had for $150K now. I would be hard to justify paying more for a new R8 V10.
