    V10 Delivery Lead Time Confusion

What Delivery Times are you bring quoted for a V10 in the UK?

I have been quoted June/July by one Audi Dealer with a £1500 Deposit to secure and they would ask for the Deposit to be increased to 10% of the cost upon specification. But have been quoted January by another Dealer who wants £5000 to secure.

Have been quoted December / January for a V8.

    What is going on?

I am rapidly going off the idea of investing in a V8 or V10, not only these inconsistent delivery times, but I worry about the realibility issues as well. At the moment I think I will be staying with Porsche who have vast experience of working in this sector of the market.

According to my dealer only 150 V10's are coming into the country this year, he reckoned that if you ordered now you would be looking at a early 2010 delivery date, but to be honest I am not sure how accurate that is. A number of speculators are trying to off load cars at the moment

    Malc,

For the most honest position, call the R8 team at Audi UK. They can give you a 100% position on a new ordered car.

V10 UK delivery for 2009 is very limited as Streetrod notes. But, there are speculators and buyers who have both got their fingers burned by the recession so there will be people trying to off load cancelled orders.

Here in Korea, the slot for the first delivery date is in June/July.

Got to agree with R8E. The dealer, that I spoke with, offered info which was directly contradicted by the R8 Team, and has asked for terms which were very different to my purchase of the V8, ie. £5k for a specced and submitted order and another £5k when the car goes into production.

Build slots will be allocated this coming week. Mike Faiers has now unfortunately left the Team, so speak to Kirsty for the real deal.

Re: V10 Delivery Lead Time Confusion

Thank you all for your very helpful comments.

The situation does seem quite bizarre! The Dealers do not seem to have a consistent view of the delivery for a V8 or V10, also some seem to know more than others, I asked one dealer if it was possible to collect from the factory, "Oh No was the reply" when one of the only bits of correspondence I have had from Audi since reserving my V8 back in September 2008, has been an invitation to "Factory Collect" my car.

By the way has anyone had much in the way of correspondence from Audi since ordering an R8?

I am starting to think that the car is too much for the Audi sales infrastructure and that they lack the experience of say, Porsche.

My experience of Porsche from a sales prespective is not brilliant but at least when I have had cars on order (one with an 18 month lead time) they gave me some confidence that they knew what they were doing.

I am going to contact the R8 Team at Audi UK this week to try to find out what is going on!

My Porsche dealer may not need to worry about me defecting unless Audi very quickly get their act together!

    Malc,

On thing is consistent - the dealers know nothing !!!!!

As MikeB has confirmed, the R8 team have the correct info.

I have nothing but praise for the team. I have visited them in Milton Keynes, and they are nothing but helpful, professional and accomodating.

The information I have had from them over the past 2 years has proven correct, and they have done their absolute best to resolve minor issues I had with my R8 V8 (sideblade colour).

Yes, you can collect from Germany. There was initially a issue when collecting the early delivery V8's in 2007, but this has long since been resolved.

My message is to hang in there and call Bev or Kirsty next week.

Anyway, the V8 or V10 does not compare to a Porsche, it outclasses Porsche it all the way (IMHO !)

    Thank you R8E

    A couple of questions:

What is the Quality Control and Reliability like of the R8?

I would appreciate your candid comments as a owner.

I really do want to invest in the R8 but I do have concerns about moving away from Porsche.

    Thanks in advance

The quality is excellent and the control is better than a Porsche!

I have done 5k now, with a couple of minor issues (fuel sensor and a loose connection in the phone/radio system) and mayhem with a flat tyre in the depths of the Highlands, which wasn't exactly Audi's fault.

But read the reviews on the V10. The V8 is a fantastic car, but the V10 is going to be WICKED!

I wonder if there is an R8 "team" in the US. I have not heard of such a group...ever!

By the way, I've had both Porsches and Audis and the P-car guys have always been more knowledgeable about their product. I believe that this probably has more to do with the individual dealers and sales folks that I've gone to rather than the brands themselves.

    My $.02.
