Letter from AOA re: Rear Fog Light and real time NAV

I received a letter today from AOA regarding adding a rear fog light and real time NAV.

AOA said it is against to state of MN law to add a rear fog light that is not on the car when manufactured. HUH? I need to verify this information.

They also said that real time NAV from Sirus was not available to Audi when my car was made in October of '08. My partner has had real time NAV in his Acura since '06. I wonder why Audi did not want real time NAV on the R8?

I guess adding diffuser vanes to the rear of my R8 will be O.K? My sattelite radio sometimes searching for links.None of my other cars do this.Is this maybe tied to this other prob. of real time?

Real-time? Um, aren't all navigation systems real-time? What do you mean?

Also, can you order the rear fog from the factory on a US car?

Sorry, I did not notice that it was a private message. It basically says that he has real time NAV and was surprised that we do not in the US.

I asked the dealer to order UK rear fog for my car. That is when I received the letter from AOA regarding the inability to get real time NAV and rear fog lamps.

I went to MNDMV and asked if it was legal to add rear fog. They said yes and directed me to the local police dept with a photo of UK rear fog. The local police wrote me a letter stating that it is legal. I went on OEMPL.us for pricing and delivery. I will find an installer today.

You do know that installing the rear fog means at least 7 hours of labor right?

Once Rich at OEMPL.us explained the procedure to me I quickly forgot about having that installed

7 Hours?? Maybe, but I doubt it. Or just stick an L.E.D. strip light of some sort, temporarily, for that occasional instance.I am going to carry something like this around with me for emergency usage !!

When they have to run wiring from the rear bumper to glove compartment area it takes a while. Just taking the rear bumper off and reinstalling is a job in itself. Not plug n play by any stretch of the imagination.

Audi doesn't make anything easy on this car.

Just installing the 2 main CF interior pieces took around 7 hours

Maybe I won't get the rear fog lamp if it takes seven hours of labor.
