Stereo on every time I start her

Every time I start her the stereo comes on, regardless of whether it was on when I last drove her. I've looked for a parameter in the set up menus but can't see anything obvious (although I'm convinced I must be missing something). It'sbit annoying... can anyone help?

My radio does the same thing. Can be embarassing if the volume is high and I am taking some to lunch but I have gotten used to turning off the radio as soon as I start her up now. If anyone has a way of changing the settings I would love to hear about it.

Sounds like this might be one those configurable options? I need to disable the alarm activation cheep at my first service.

Every time I start her the stereo comes on, regardless of whether it was on when I last drove her.

I have noticed that if I just depress the volume control briefly it MUTES the sound but next time I start the car it is "on" and no longer muted. If I depress and hold the volume control down for a few seconds it really turns the system off and it stays off on a restart of the engine. Perhaps this is related to your observation? All three R8's that I have driven (one was a Euro spec) behaved the same way.

Ah Ha - could be it, the MUTE is not held during a power down.

It's an irritation - also if I mute the stereo, make or receive a call, and then hang up, the stereo comes on again.

And the bollocky config of the navigation voice and the stereo - why doesn't the navigation block out the stereo completely when it comes on. I don't have a clue which volume control to adjust to turn the stereo down so I can hear urgent instructions, especially when I am concentrating on holding the missile on the road.

This is problem with many Audis - in my view an utter oversight by them. However, a couple of newer ones I have driven (RS6 and S8) they have cured that problem. so it starts next time as you left it.

My other bug with the MMI is that the Sat Nav on restart always goes to the input page, not back to where it was before - usually on the map page.
