    3 points and a Fine.

Does anyone know of a good compact speed detector for mobile lasers and van cameras that'll fit in the slot above the aircon controls, and that works without too many false alarms? The TomTom will pick up any fixed sites. UK based.

The Safety! Partnership nailed me on a downhill deserted stretch in Cumbria. Nothing but a cash cow

The Stinger DSI seems to be the only one to stop lazers.

I have been told that this one is not ilegal yet?

There is another one that bounces the lazer and tells the police gun it has been hijacked . The police then stop you and charge you with perverting the course of justice.Doh

Re: 3 points and a Fine.

STINGER DSI is still useless for laser because it only activates in real time i.e it warns only when the laser gun is trigerred which of course is too late if you are speeding at that point in time

Laser diffusers (commonly known as jammers) are the only effective answer but as has already been stated are technically illegal. However , as they use the same technology as remote garage door openers a clever lawyer might get you off.

Basically , as an ex copper I have to impart the bad news that there is no sure fire way to avoid speeding tickets (or a charge of perverting the course of justice) other than not speeding - ever
Like the rest of us I find that course of action both unreasonable and almost impossible so my advice is to invest in a decent fixed camera detector aka Road Angel and get to know where the police usually set up local laser traps/mobile detector vans (same old places time after time where they can collect most revenue)

I use a Mini Coyote, small and updates itself automatically without having to plug into my laptop.

    http://www.activegps.co.uk/mini-coyote.htm

My road angel has been unloved for 6 months now, basically because i never have time to update it.

Otherwise get yourself a Northern Ireland Drivers license, The Dvla and dvlaNI are both Uk but they can not enforce the points in england.
This may have changed in the last 6 months as DVLA NI has moved to swansea wales head office.

As long as you play the game, pay the fine, send in your licence etc they give up sooner or later .

No comment on the number of points i have evaded.

Re: 3 points and a Fine.

http://www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk/ has reviews and information about all this stuff inc the stinger dsi

this page is relevant re laser jammers:

    http://www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk/jamlaw.htm

seems they correlate data from different speed vans and if you flag up as them being unable to get your speed more than once they can come and tow away your car and arrest you. which is nice...

btw, the stinger dsi does include an option for laser jamming - see the "laser shield" section of this page:

Exclamation Re: 3 points and a Fine.

This is why an INTERNATIONAL drivers' license is becomming more and more popular with my freinds who have lost their licenses. Europes' drivers have it much tougher than in the U.S. I am considering an operation to have one of my eyeballs moved to the back of my head!! I always try to see the Coppers before they see me.God has made a few design flaws just like Audi.(just kidding!!).

I missed that one - will read more in depth - I was certainly thinking of the Bel RX65, but wasn't sure of installation issues. Thanks
