I have just gone past the four month point, and winter is still in full force here. Not sure how much more of this I can take
What is your record for going without an R8 fix?

My god 4 months! That is a long long long..... time. Me, longest is 5 days. When I do drive it again, it feels like a blood transfusion experience.
November 28th I put into winter storage. I took it out for Valentine's day. I have put ~900 miles on it since V day. It is suppose to snow tomorrow.![]()

For God's sake man , the thing is for driving
Snow , Sun , ice , rain, hail , dry , wet , earthquake , volcano , alien invasion - who gives a **** , just get out there and enjoy it![]()
Well Conker I hear ya, but I suspect you have not seen what damage a REAL winter can do to cars, not to mention all the idiots skidding around like bowling balls, who could smash into you at any time.
72 hours. I had it out today in our current wind/snow storm. Winds are gusting to 40 mph and it is snowing sideways. Visibility is down to less than a quarter mile.
I'm surprised at the lack of damage to my car. I have driven it nearly every day this winter. I have the whole front clear bra which helps and with the exception of a few fine paint scratches and a small bit of missing paint from well inside the front right wheel well, the car still looks new. People around my parts are very snow savvy when driving since we drive on snow covered roads 3 to 5 months of the year. Not sure I would do the same in a location where the populace is less experienced.

ToeCutter,
Actually people here are very experienced in driving in snow and ice. We have had snow continuously for more than 4 months now. It still does not stop idiots, usually in SUV's and trucks from thinking they are invincible and driving like total idiots. Not to mention the crap they throw down on the roads - gravel and salt.
I actually did some damage to my A6, when driving it in VERY cold conditions - I'm talking -40 or so. Something seized up - may have been a PCV valve, caused excessive pressure and popped a bunch of seals. Not keen on exposing the R8 to all of that crap, but maybe I am being too particular with it.
Then again, I have also had the experience of sitting at an intersection, watching someone driving way to fast to make a turn, and smashing straight into the side of my car while trying to make the impossible turn. I had no chance to get out of the way. This was not in the R8, thank God.
Longest so far is 2 days..
I put snows on and will drive it in winter except for heavy snow conditions..the quattro system works well in some snow..
@Kthacher, do you not get some periods during winter where the roads are dry? where it's sunny and near the freezing mark ?
