Future of R8?

I spoke to some folks at Audi NA the other day and they were less than sure that the R8-V10 was clearly coming to the US. Especially in numbers to meet possible demand. They also were skeptical of any form of convertible showing up.
What are others hearing?

maybe it's the cynic in me, but wouldn't it make sense for them to downplay currently unavailable models to get people into the available v8's, providing "upgrade" sales potential down the line?

I don't know who you spoke with, but I work across the street from the Audi NA HQ in Herndon, VA and talk to several folks there every week. I am finalizing my Audi Exclusive interior options and nobody has even hinted that the car will not be coming. It's just a matter of time.

Similar chatter from my dealers. My mid sized dealer (service dealer) was told they weren't even getting a V10 (much less any more V8's). Larger dealer that I took delivery from on the V8 is keeping everybody's name interested but not taking any paper orders. They say they won't do anything until they get a firm word. I was hot to get a V10 but really am having more than enough fun in the V8 and have decided to keep it for a longer term. I drive mine every day and rarely need to accelerate or hit a top speed any faster or higher than I currently have the capability of doing.

I agree that it would make no sense to hype the V10's if V8's are sitting on showroom floors unsold.

The GM at my dealer has told me that the V10 will be arriving either late this year or some time Spring 2010. I don't see why they wouldn't bring it to the states.

LOL...That is my DH....We had a call from an Audi rep and of course, Stu questioned him on the availability of the Convert...something we would be interested in...well, me anyway....He is interested in the V10
