Fuel tank capacity

Here in the UK we have allegedly got the larger 90 ltr tank - so why I have I never been able to put more than 67 litres into the car at the pump, when the fuel reckoner was saying that I had less than 40 miles to go before drying up? And that was when we were averaging 22.8 mpg on the motorway.

Audi notes that running the car dry is inadvisable, so I have never been able to check whether the fuel reckoner is working properly.

I thought the 90 liter was an option.

Not in UK cars, 90 is standard.

24.8 gallons US or 93.88 liters is the only option on US cars.

Good to know. 24.8 gals.x approx. 20 mpg = Almot 500 miles at a concervative pace!! Can this be acheived?

No.....
I get around 300miles per tank. That's from full to just before the warning flashes up.

It actually works out to a theoretical max of around 435 miles (22mpg average driving at a steady 70mph, with a tank max of 19.8 Imp Gallons). But that would mean draining the tank from full, which is not a great idea as mentioned above.
I think I managed 340miles on one trip through Holland, filling up when the range meter hit 5 miles!

You should check out the Top Gear economy race to see just how far you can push your luck with where empty actually is..... Doing that, you could probably hit the magic 435

Totally agree. I can never get anywhere near 90 litres in mine either, even when down to 10 miles on the indicator. Maybe there's a safety feature built in to stop you running out, and there is much more than 10 miles worth of fuel left???

As someone who always ignores the miles left indicator, I'm willing to bet I'm the first to run it dry. If I do, I'll report my findings....
