    Red face R8 Car jack

Has anyone been able to get a genuine wheel jack?

I tryed to order one from my Audi dealer in Australia and they told me that Audi said that they were not available but I thought I came across a post that someone was able to get one.

There is the provision in the tool kit for one so I would think they would do one.

If anyone has been able to get one, were did you get it and dose it work OK.

    Re: R8 Car jack

In the UK the brochure says it comes with a 'Tool kit including jack' I'll tell you when I get my car on Thursday ;-) I seem to have seen threads on Jacks from US posters so perhaps it is a Audi subsidiary issue? Do you the same litigation problems our US buddies have?

    Re: R8 Car jack

There is a long thread on this, somehere.

Jack's are supplied as standard in the UK, but not supplied in USA, and, apparently, Australia.

Having had a puncture, I can tell you that, yes, it does work.

    Re: R8 Car jack

Based on the other threads about the dangers of towing and the inadequacy of the slime and the jack, I've taken to carrying a tire plug kit from the auto parts store. My hope is that with a plug and the pump I could get the car to a location where a proper tire repair could be done. Of course the slime, a plug kit, or a jack will be of little help in the case of more dramatic tire damage.

    Re: R8 Car jack

After much complaining the dealer provided me with a jack. Audi of America made me agree that they were not responsible for any damage (to the vehicle or persons) that resulted in using the jack. I used in this spring to take the car down from tire skates. It slammed into the side of the car as soon as I took the weight off of the tire skates. Be careful using the jack. I ended up having a neighbor bring a racing floor jack over to get the car off of the tire skates.

    Re: R8 Car jack

What is the real problem with the jack? I don't get why AOA can't devise one for the R8that works properly?
I just put in my order (and big deposit) for the V10 and I asked for a jack when the car is delivered.
Why is that such a problem?
    Thanks.

    Exclamation Re: R8 Car jack

Maybe because the jack can easily cause damage like MNGOLFER1 says? I want and need a jack too.Plug kit plus jack will make me feel a little more prepared!

    Re: R8 Car jack

OK, I get that the jack can cause car damage. Why? I have had them for other low-down cars and they have worked fine. Is there something about the R8 that makes it harder to use a jack?
    Thanks.
