About LinkBacksOn Sky TV in the UK, I saw a great programme on the Audi channel (884) entitled 'Designs for Life: Vehicle Design' and it features the R8 design team and majors on the car's design. It has sections by Stefan sielaff (Head of Audi Design) and Frank Lamberty (R8 Designer) talking about what the SideBlade is for and how 'the strong cut is intended to separate the cab forward passenger part from the technical part.
Fascinating..
