    Porsche in trouble? R8 ok?

I thought they were one of the wealthiest families on the planet, but reports are indicating that Porsche borrowed 10 billion euros to refinance its debt in March and are still seeking more. The 'takeover' is now a 'merger', and Porsche and VW don't seem to be getting on very well in their talks, probably due to Porsche's perceived debt weakness.

Is the R8 safe now? I think so.

Cash rich VW are now, apparently, in a position to carry out a reverse takeover of Porsche's car operations. 911 owners beware!

Funny part is that VW lent them the cash to keep going till they got the bigger loan

"According to the report, Porsche was out of funds between March 22 and March 24, 2009. An insolvency could only be averted, because Volkswagen graciously handed them a €700m loan. Yes, the same Volkswagen Porsche was buying."

Lets not forget the Porsche main business is no longer car production, they are now more of a finance house than a car builder. Currently only 12% of revenues come from car production. That was why they were in a position last year to take a majority shareholding in VW

Oh the mighty have fallen. Perhaps now we can get some Porsche models that don't look like something my grandfather would be putting around in.
