APS Engine remap and brake upgrade next week!

My R8 is going into APS on Friday to have their Stage 1 engine remap done. Even though the power/torque gains aren't that huge i'm really looking forward to seeing the end of the 3.5k rev flat spot and have a lot more low down grunt which is what this remap achieves.

Also having Pagid RS-29 front pads fitted in prep for some track days i'm doing soon. Previous experience of these pads has been sensational so I can't wait for the extra stopping power these are going to give.

I'll post a review once both are fitted and they've been on the track. Can't wait!

Re: APS Engine remap and brake upgrade next week!

Hi Stevez..I seem to recall one of our forum members bz888 having the same ecu mod and I think his comment was that "there would be a bigger difference felt with a tail wind"

Certainly not my place to judge what you've decided..just thought you might want to search the forum for further details.

I have wanted to do the same thing but from all my reading and research it seems that the 4.2L is pretty much at 9/10ths already and there doesn't seem all that much we can gain just from a ECU alone

In combination with a new exhaust, air filters and mapping you can probably get to about 460hp.

Good luck and let us all know of the outcome.

I think there are some conflicting opinions about it. I'm not after a power gain (420bhp is plenty for me!) I just want rid of that dead spot in the rev range at about 3,500rpm and a bit more low down grunt. I am assured this remap will sort this, but we'll wait and see.

    Hi Steve,

dont worry i think bz888 opted for the APR remap, the guys at APS have designed thier own software modification and the remap is somewhat different from others. I am delighted with the APS remap, although power gains are not huge the mid range is vastly improved, esp lower down the rev range.

Say hello to Ed and the guys to me, i will also be visiting them soon for the PPI filter kit to be installed.

Exclamation Re: APS Engine remap and brake upgrade next week!

I have approx.460 H.P. which is not enough anymore.I am a little worried the remap might make my car slower. If I were to get sponsorship and start racing, I would opt for the Carbon brakes though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HEARTBEAT OF AMERICA Click on link below...I have no flat spots. Has anyone good experience with the HI-PERF chip available from PPI, OEM PLUS, etc.??

Not sure what it stands for but they are very well regarded in GB with regards to engine remaps.

I spoke to them but they want £1,000 for pretty much the same as what APS are offering.

So what is the best remap to get in the UK for max power gain, or would I need a new exhaust in tandem?
