Manual - Shifting probelms

Interesting information for any manual R8 owners. I have experienced rough shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear since delivery and, more recently, from neutral to reverse and 1st gear. The 2nd to 3rd gear issue has been described by others and attributed to getting used to the gate shifter but the more recent issues seemed inexplicable.

My dealer, who is very through, never found any problems in early service visits but has now discovered that the shifter did not have any lubrication. Apparently there is a lubrication resevoir which appeared to be dry, i.e. never had any lubrication.

The shifter is now being replaced since there was unusual wear to the shifter due to the gears not engaging fully in the gate.

My concern is, of course, that this may have resulted in excessive wear to the clutch, especially since over the past month or so I have often smelled clutch odor after normal driving.

I will let you all know what happens but suggest to others experiencing the same or similar issue that they have their dealer check the shifter lubrication and shift assembly for the same problem.

Thanks, dealer installing my stasis exhaust Monday and I'm going to have them check that out. It goes into 2nd from 3rd pretty easy but it makes a squeaky sound

Shouldn't affect the clutch... however I'd press them to replace that as well
