I just had a long talk with my car

Was reading my owners manual and found it has voice activated phone. So I spent the last hour sitting in my car putting all my numbers in

Did it understand you? Watched top gear where a car (which was a nissan but not sure which) had voice activation and didnt have a clue what it was meant to do, was really funny.

It understood me very well, My Lexus was horrible at understanding commands

Ive had my car for a little over 6 months now and havent bothered with the voice activation, but perhaps one day I'll set it up. My salesman gave me some line that the car over time learnes to better recognize your voice and what youre trying to say. I dunno about that, but when he was demonstrating it to me, it worked fine.

I have used it ... .works OK but I really don't think it has any ability to "learn to do better" ...that is just a salesman talking about something about which he really knows nothing (strange how salesmen seem to do that!).

Unfortunately there is no training function for voice commands for vehivles equiped with the RNS-E head unit type arrangement or with MMI (generation2). The 3rd generation of MMI however (as can be found in Q5 etc) does have a function where the user can repeat a series of commands and the control unit will adapt tho subtle differences in the pronunciation between users. It works very well too.

Having said that, all current voice commands respond well when spoken clearly.
