R8 gone.... RS6 in....

Hi Guys and Gals

Thought I'd just pop back in to say goodbye to you all. It's been a great experience on the forum, despite nasty and threatening PM's from a certain member. I have got rid of my lovely R8, and have a brand new RS6 saloon in black with a few extra's. It's a stunning car, and I have to say that I am enjoying it as much as my R8, although I do sometimes miss it. A few pro's and cons for the RS6 over the R8 are listed.

PROS OF THE RS6

1. It's unbelievably powerful - quicker than the R8. Mind blowing acceleration.
2. The comfort level and interior trim is extremely high.
3. It's a lot easier to 'live with' - car parks, speed bumps etc...
4. It has DAB radio and Digital TV reception, which actually works!
5. I can get stuff in it - like people for example!
6. Very very smooth and an awesome drive.
7. Was it hasn't got in terms of specification, isn't worth having!
8. Still get the looks and stares - just not as many.
9. I don't have gangs of kids around my driveway every night!!!
10. I can get in and out of it without having to be a yoga expert!
11. It looks good.
12. It sounds good.
13. It's more powerful than an F430.

CONS OF THE RS6

I too have sold my R8 (V10 arriving at the start of Sept), I had a RS6 saloon on loan from Audi UK for 5 weeks and I have to say it was awesome, however, I found that most people simply didn't know what it was but soon realised it was something special once they had been overtaken at close to warp speed, didn't get as many looks as the R8 but those who know what it is know and those that don't don't matter!

I found the fuel consumption was awful, max 22 on a run and sometimes 9.8 around town when driving sensibly.

Exhaust needs to be much louder, very dissapointing, agree radio etc is great.

Hope you enjoy it and manage to keep your license, I'm sure I'd have lost mine if I had it full time.

hope you continue to enjoy the car, the spec of the rs6 is a very tempting box ticker for a practical supersaloon. would be interesting to see some pics if you get the chance.

i dont think any front engine care thats so big and heavy can come close to the R8 when it comes to handling...

The so-called "threat" was me. I asked Richcliffe (along with 2 other forum members) to watch his mouth (in an impolite manner) about what he said.

I think people in the UK and the USA are very sensible to people (like me) speaking too frankly. I guess that's why I have a red dot next to my username. (makes me different I guess )

It's now long gone. I must admit that I don't master the English being my 4th language so I understood things wrong back then.

Apologies once again regarding that Richcliffe (and other 2 members), enjoy your new RS6 in good health.

Agreed about the handling. The RS6 truly looks impressive (I saw one literally eating an M5 at high speed on the highway); it was something else.
