Just received E-mail from Audi dealer and was offered 60 month from purchase,60,000 mile extended warranty.only 1660.00 U S. Car must have less than 15,000 miles and be less than 1 yr. old. ****, I hope I still qualify!!! After seeing the case of air conditioning problem that required engine removal...I am desparately seeking susan.I may keep my R 8 longer than expected and nothing makes me feel better about the car than the warranty I now have.
Make sure it's not a scam. I'm sure you're smart enough to know, but I've seen a ton of these pop up and they were scams. Of course you'll probably ask the dealer if it's valid before you pay.
I bought the Audi Factory Extended Warranty with the car. I think it was a good option and it was less than 2K$; I'll check the #s and details about it.
So yes, do get it Harisson! but go to your dealer and talk it over
Harrison said 60 months from date of purchase. That's only an additional year or 10K. I don't think it's worth it.
Hovy what terms and how much was it? I wouldn't trust third party contract with the R8. I don't think they know about the pulling the engine part to change the AC compressor. Ahh 20 hours labor to change out AC, OUCH! You think third party would pay out?
Audi contract. I bought it at the Audi dealer when I bought my car. It's not third party. (No way, I would buy a third party warranty on a brand new R8 or for that matter any car).
I am of town now but I will confirm the details and price when I return; I remember it was less than 2K$.
I called my darling from Boston to ask, she has better memory (and thinks I am nuts):
The Audi Extended Warranty I purchased with the car covers 7 years/100K miles. It's just like the 4 years/50K miles that comes with the car; just extended. So basically, it's 3 years and not 7!
I also bought a set of OEM tires so it could be that I am mixing up the 2K$ price somewhere. As I said, I'll double check.
The only thing I didn't have to pay for was the interior car cover; how nice of them ... (cough) bull****!
A 7 yr./100k warranty on an R8 under $2000 would be a shockingly good deal! I put a 7 yr./100k Audi warranty on my '98 A6 when it was new and it was $2800! I just paid over 3k. for a 7 yr./100k. ext. warranty on my wife's MB R320 diesel, from the original selling dealer because she decided she really liked the car. That's an expensive car to repair, but it can't hold a candle to an R8 for potential repair costs, I should think.
For a car you like and really want to put miles on, a 7 yr./100k warranty is an attractive deal if it's transferrable to the next buyer because you can really drive the wheels off the car and then, at about 6 yrs/90k miles you can sell it privately with the assurance to the new buyer that he's got about a year or 10k miles of coverage if anything goes wrong. Lot's of people look for good, well maintained, original owner high mileage cars.
I've had good experiences selling such cars after lot's of satisfying miles. I've always been able to beat what the kbb says it should sell for with this strategy. I usually wait until the car's been in service about a year to see if it's one I want to "go the distance with".
I agree. As I said, I don't remember the numbers. I wired the dealer the entire amount (R8's MSRP + set of OEM tires + extended warranty + tire/wheel protection). I know there was something listed on the invoice at less than 2K$, it could be the tires. I'll check the price of the extended warranty when I return to Montreal from Boston in few days.
I know the audi extended warranty is transferable if you decide to sell the vehicle.
Am checking .Just looking for my VIN # as I am not home ..But a phone call or insurance docs will help.Plan to purchase today if at all possible. Will get back to you.
Sorry to mislead...Thread should have been called Audi SERVICE extention.1660.00 for service coverage extension. My 5k service was free.10 k coming up.FREE?? Audi has the Platinum Warranty extension available. Can be purchased at any time..just costs a little more with more miles. At 7k mileage cost is 3,500.00 to extend warranty to 6 yrs from purchase up to 100,000 miles !! With 10k miles cost is 3,700.00. Car came with 4 yr/50,000 mile warranty. Dealer will get back to me with more info.like cost of 10k service and subsequent services. So not in a hurry just yet !!
I investigated this when considering a RS6 that was out of warranty. To purchase any extended warranty from Audi USA, the original factory warranty needs to be in effect. If it has expired, Audi will perform the same inspection they do for CPO cars - and bring your car up to CPO standards - at your cost. If you car is in good shape, this is another $1-2K, in addition to the extended warranty. If it needs repair and is in bad shape, forget about it. I always look for CPO cars or cars with a warranty because it gives you a significant advantage when you decide to sell the car (even though NONE of us will EVER sell our R8).
