Two new service bulletins on '09 vehicles

I took my car into the dealer today because I continue to have intermittent problems with the mirrors not folding out and I now have a vibration in the center under the dash.

They told me there were two service bulletins on my car. The first is a second software upgrade. The second is a replacement of the gas filler cord. The dealer said these are passive service bulletins. They will not do the upgrades unless the customer brings their car in for service. The dealer did not say what the software upgrade effected.

Same msg from my dealer while in for a tire replacement. Was told the software upgrade was for the "engine control module."

Update from dealer: Cannot find short in mirrors. :O( They will keep the car until they find the short. Fixed rattles, carbon fiber rubbing wear in engine compartment is on all R8's. (they put in a felt pad to eliminate wear.) gas cap tether replaced with new part, engine module flash updated.

They did the two updates to my car last week. The new gas cap strap is supposed to prevent the opening problems some people had before. I am not sure what the computer flash was supposed to fix.

Just had the new gas cap strap installed two weeks ago. Result: Started having opening problems!!! They replaced it again today, second time a charm?

Does the gas filler cord replacement fix the problem of the gas cap door getting jammed? I had to cut the cord on mine to prevent the cap from jamming.

Presumably it is supposed to address that. The new tether is visually very similar to the old one. It's a bit thicker and stiffer if anything. Not sure how effective the fix is.

I'm always careful to kind of wrap it around as I close the door, so it doesn't get pinched by the hinge or the latch. So far, I've never had a problem.
