On the way home from work tonight, I had a Corvette following me. He seemed intent on sticking right on my tail as we meandered through some low speed streets. Then we were both going to turn onto the highway, and I was pretty sure he wanted to play.
I turned first and hesitated a bit to let him get started and then floored it in second. Since I had the head start it took him a bit of time to react, but when he did he hit the throttle so hard that he fish-tailed a bit. By then I was long gone, since I had perfect traction the entire time.
I eased off at about 150 km/hr and then just watched in the rear view mirror as he just screamed up beside me. I figured that I was going to keep the speeding ticket down in case I got caught, and by then the fun was over anyway. He must have been doing 200-210 given the close rate. Actually it was a thing of beauty to see him eating up the highway behind me.
The when he got beside me, down went the window and he gave me a great wave and a huge grin. I took it to mean that he was pretty **** impressed at how fast and effortlessly I had bolted. So we both waved and grinned a bit and then he exited.
I never stopped smiling the the entire rest of the way home. Mainly due to the quick interaction the two of us had. Very cool - almost everyone feels happier after they see an R8, even if it is real hard to catch![]()
