Homelink programming

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum and new to R8 world as well My question is regarding homelink device. I tried to program 2 infrared remote controlers as described in a manual w/o success. Audi dealer is telling me I would probably need some kind of adapter, because a remote controler uses a different frequency. Is that true? Did anyone have problems with this and how was it solved?

IIRC the home link will only work with radio transmitters and not infra-red fobs

That's probably where you should look to find out about your Homelink, since "Homelink" is a t.m. of Johnson Controls. But what you'll find out is, it is a RADIO (RF) device, NOT an infr-red signaller (like a tv remote), so if you really mean infrared controllers, then you'll have to have some kind of adapter that receives radio and transmits I.R. to use your Homelink.
