    2010 Audi R8 V8/V10 cost comparison

There has been a lot of discussion on the merits and differences of the V10 over the V8. The retail price of the V10 model is less than what I was expecting and it does come with many options as standard equipment. I needed to run the numbers to see how much difference there is between the two models and then decide if I should change my current order from the V8 to the V10. See attachment for the numbers. In my case it ends up being only $11,500 which I can easily justify. I just need to be sure that the V10 exhaust note is pleasing enough since I was planning on the Stasis exhaust for the V8 (my dealer has this on his car and I will be able to do a side by side comparison when he gets another V10 in this month).

Only 11.5K? How the heck did you spec your V8? Mine was fully loaded without CF and it was $126K at the time. The same spec V10 was at least $25K more.

Last I checked the engine carbon was not included in the V10. Not sure about leather either.

Check out the attachment for the breakdown. The carbon fiber sigma engine compartment inlays are standard as is fine nappa leather seats (enhanced leather is another $3,500).

The other thing that skews this is I have included $6,000 for a Stasis exhaust cost for the V8 which I wouldn't do if the V10 sounds good enough (I'm not sure if the tuners have anything available yet anyway).

PS: sorry, but somehow in copying and pasting the text from the 2010 US Order Guide, some of the line ends seem to have gotten misplaced, so some kind of strange juxtapositions are seen up there; if some words don't make sense on the line they're on, just look up or down a couple of lines and they'll fit in; eg.: the headlights are NOT "heated" like is seems to say above!!

Including $6k for the price of a Stasis exhaust on the V8 makes this analysis a bit misleading.

Engine bay carbon isn't standard on the V10 in the UK, unless its changed recently. Lets hope so!

Sorry - I did not intend on misleading anyone. I did the analysis for my own benefit based on what I had speced/ordered on my V8. I just thought I would share it with others since I found it to be interesting. I also attached the breakdown so that anyone could see what was included in the comparison.

Peace ... I didn't mean to imply that you were doing the misleading maliciously but I did note that someone else took it as an apples-to-apples comparison (probably had not done the details).
