Titanium finish rims BACK on Audi Exclusive list!?!?

Well, Round 3 -- my order keeps getting rejected (2010 R8). Now the dealer reports that Audi has put Titanium finish rims BACK on the Audi Exclusive list. Just last month, Audi indicated that the rims did NOT require a trip to the Audi Exclusive catalog, as was required in 2009. This is so frustrating. Now, to get the $500 option, I have to pay $1,200 to get into the catalog. SO STUPID!

Ouch - I hope that is not the case. My dealer took my order and didn't say anything about the additional cost but I don't think they have input it into the system yet either since I am not looking for delivery until around June of 2010.

I did get copies of the 2010 order guide/pricing sheets from the dealer for the V8 and V10 and both list the titanium finish wheels as just a $500 option so I am surprised they just can't be ordered without paying the exclusive list cost too.

With Audi -- I'm always surprised. Porsche is frustrating, but Audi is maddening.

If that is true, there must be a new revision to the 2010 Order Guide since the July 17 edition shows polished 5 double spoke (w. rear 305s) (PQ7), and titanium 5 double spoke (w. rear 305s) (PQK) as regular options on the v8

AND the SAME PLUS regular finish 5 double spoke (w. rear 295s) (PRJ) as regular options on the v10

PRJ is the "standard" wheel on the v8 and the O.G. doesn't show a code for the std. v10 wheel which they call "10 spoke Y design" in the O.G.

I am under the impression that the Order Guide is a semi-public document that is put out to guide the customer and the dealer in the order writing process, so anyone who's shopping now should be looking at the LATEST Order Guide, and asking for it it they're not.

ALSO, you say your "order keeps getting rejected." That seems kind of different from the experience of a lot of us. On option stuff like that, people have gotten notices that it's "not available" but their order continues in process.

Or, for example in the case of SBFV10, he ordered the "lighted door sills," per the O.G. at the time he wrote his order. Announcements have come out about them being N/A, but I don't think he's heard anything about his specific order, so he doesn't know if his car, which is expected in 2-3 wks., will have them or not.

Also, I think most of us who've gone thru the ordering process have had our dealers latch onto a specific allocation with a specific build date AND THEN they've said, "OK, time to write down your specific order spec."

I'm just sharing this because it sounds a little bit to me like you MIGHT be getting jacked around on this. We've heard other stories of dealers stringing customers along when they didn't have a specific allocation to assign them.

The order guide I was referencing was dated 07/23/09 for the V10 and 08/07/09 for the V10. I don't have electronic copies and I would scan my hard copies but I have marked them up quite a bit.

I thought you meant the ORDER FOR YOUR CAR was rejected, because of the wheels ordered! Sounds like you've got a firm slot, just quibbling about the options!

Well, they ARE capricious and hard to decipher, at least from over here in N. America, when it comes to ordering and how to do it.

Good thing for Audi they've got a product in the R8 that sells itself. The average "luxury performance" car buyer who's used to getting it exactly how he want's it, or he moves on, wouldn't hold still for this R8 circus!

Guess that means we're not average
