Vote for the transmission you personally feel is the best, not for the one you have in your car (because i know some people had no choice, such as buying used cars).
Also you can comment on why each one is better or worse than the other![]()

This thread has been done in so many ways, so many times. Why not just look at the previous threads?
You should try out both. Nobody can tell you which is best suited for you. For me, it's R-Tronic.
"Because I know some people had no choice?"![]()
Believe me, you do have a choice when you pay this much money for a car of this caliber. Well, at least, I hope you do. There were/are plenty of used R8s in both 6MT and R-Tronic.
2009 audi r8 (gone)
2010 mb g55
2010 bentley gt speed
2011 911 turbo S
The manual is the smoothest shifting box I have ever driven, so I have to give it the nod. The R-Tronic is nice too, so it is pretty close for me. However, I did not like the way it upshifts during WOT, and worry about how I would like it for low speed parking and such so I went old school.
How will what I feel is "personally best for me" going to help you? anyway a few years ago I had a BMW M3 SMG and really missed shifting with a stick and a clutch, So was a very easy decision for me what to get. I find the shifting on the R8 to be one of the best I have ever used. Has nothing to do with the fact some prefer the R-Tronic since I'm sure thats a great system also.
I had the opportunity to test drive both before I placed my order and I liked the 6 speed much better.

I was part of a discussion on one thread a few days ago about this but the thread was only about R-Tronic so i decided i should stop hijacking a thread and create my own. I haven't seen a poll on this so that hasn't been done yet? And what is the point in your comment if its been done before then you don't need to comment right? Simple as that. This thread has been done in so many ways, so many times. Why not just look at the previous threads?
You are right there are a lot of used cars in both transmissions but i remember reading somewhere on these forums a member says they had no choice? I might be wrong but i'll leave it there just incase"Because I know some people had no choice?"

I won't get the chance to try either before i finalize my order (which is whenever i go to audi) so i'm just trying to compare to two from people on hereHow will what I feel is "personally best for me" going to help you?![]()
If you've never driven a sequential manual before and are making a decision untested - I'd probably say go with the manual even though I personally far prefer r-tronic.

I'll say i can't test either because i had to end my crash course halfway through to look after my gf so can't drive yet (but will be able to before the end of september) just so people don't start discussing that![]()
Other than that thanks for comments so far![]()
