Cayman S is the best Porsche out there aside from the GT3.
Came close to buying one before discovering the R8.
Still prefer the R8 overall package specially the V8 engine.

Life Is Full Of Surprises.
The Cayman is listed as the best DRIVER'S CAR. Not the best handling. Last year the Audi R8 was listed as the best handling car. The R8 is totally exotic while the Cayman is one of many on the road. The V8, the sound, and the cache cannot be beaten. Just my Humble Opinion. But its hard to be humble when you drive an R8.
Cayman is nice but you can't beat the mistique & thrill of the R8.

I just spec'ed out a Cayman S with ceramic brakes, PDK, LSD, Bose Audio, PCM, sport seats & leather pkg and, yes, iPod integration. A lot of technology for <$90K. Sorry, but after driving a Cayman S for about 2 weeks (low mileage loaner while the 997 C4S was in the shop), I do not even see any comparison with the R8. In particular, I found the Cayman ride to be very, very harsh. At the time I was ever so thankful that I owned the 997 over the Cayman. I also found the interior layout on the Cayman of lesser quality and ease of use.
In any case, even after reading the mag's reasoning about their ratings, I do not see the Cayman even in the R8's league, never mind preferred over it!
My motto, "So many cars...so little time". I'm still seeking the perfect car and just got into a new Aston DBS, to see if it might meet the challenge! Meanwhile, ShelbyGirl continues to make due with the R8.....and lets me drive it every once in a while!
If the R8 won EVERYTHING (which it in fact should), the mag readers would get bored and they'd sell fewer mags ( and probably p*** off Porsche, who seem to be taking out a LOT of magazine ads lately advertising their INCENTIVES!
