R8 V10 - which transmission is faster?

I have no doubt the R-Tronic is faster on the track. Has anyone seen test data comparing the 6MT to the R-Tronic straight line acceleration?

I have driven both V8 versions, and the R-Tronic has a slight hesitation when upshifting under WOT. It did not "feel" faster than the 6MT. I suspect it is faster, but may not launch as well. Is there any reliable test data on the V10?

SteveR...all I know is I am so crappy with heal to toe driving and just plain general clutch management.....that there is no way a manual would be faster in my hands. I personally wouldn't even consider an manual again in ANY car!

At the bottom of the page, we clearly see R8 V10's superiority on the GT3, V12 Vantage (at any speed) and even ZR1 (up to 70mph).

I don't know about the V10 but for the V8 Road & Track had this update/review:

"So when we got our hands on a manual-equipped R8, we took it straight to the test track where the numbers told the story. From zero to 60 mph, the manual R8 clocked in at 4.0 seconds, 0.3 sec. quicker than the automatic. That said, the R tronic's quick shifts allowed the automatic R8 to narrow the gap to 0.1 sec. at the quarter-mile mark."

About 6 months or so ago, one of the magazines(Road/Track or Car/Driver) tested the 6MT and it was approx 0.2 sec quicker from 0-60mph vs the Auto. I would guess on the track the Auto would be slightly quicker but it could ultimately come down to have efficient one is with a manual tranny.

I would think its down to the driver knowing how to use r-tronic.

With Road and Track calling r-tronic 'automatic' it would appear their driver didn't!

I would doubt many, if any, drivers could operate the clutch and gear stick as fast as the r-tronic system can so if it comes up with slower times I would suspect it's driver error.

given they talk about the r-tronics launch control at 5k rpm being too low compared to what they did with the manual, it doesn't sound like that difference is sustainable if clutch life is a remote consideration.
