V8 with Stasis/V10 stock exhaust comparison

So I have been debating changing my current order for the R8 V8 to the V10 model ever since the U.S. pricing was released and the new models started showing up. As with some others, I prefer the older wheels and the minor style changes I'm fairly neutral on so it is all about performance and cost. In another post I compared the cost of a fully speced V8 with a Stasis exhaust to the V10 and the difference was only about $12K. Before I can make a decision I really needed to hear both cars side by side and I finally got the opportunity yesterday as my dealer got in their second V10 that was not spoken for.

I can tell you that IMHO the Stasis actually sounded better. Some of that is just preference of a V8 sound over a V10 (I have the Viper with an aftermarket exhaust so I am quite used to that sound) and some is how good the Stasis sound is. The V8 had much deeper, throatier, baritone sound. It also sounded much better idle where the stock V10 was almost silent.

I still love the idea of an extra liter of displacement and an extra 100 hp but I'm still not completely sold. I am attaching the video but the quality isn't probably good enough for others to appreciate the differences.

Awesome..thanks so much for the post.

Reaffirms my decision to stick with the V8 and install the Stasis.

Its sounds mean and pretty viscous.

Definitely(for me)part of a more enjoyable "Driving Experience"

I prefer the stock V10 just personal preference, the stasis sounds great too.

I'll take a V10 with aftermarket exhaust please. Both sound good to me though.

As a side note, a car revving in neutral sounds nothing like a car under load. Compare the Stasis dyno video to any of the neutral videos. Night and day IMO. I have to hear the car under load to make an exhaust decision, and don't plan any redline revs at stoplights.

    Now that's the solution!

All true and I would agree 100% but this was the only way to attempt a direct comparison.

Understood and appreciated. It is the best comparison I have seen to date.

Did I understand they have some available V10 cars in your area?

The black one in the video is available from the dealer (as of yesterday) and it just came in. It has a six-speed manual, illuminated door sills, polished 5 spoke wheels, carbon fiber sideblade, and carbon fiber interior.

Hmmm. So close to what I was looking for. I thought illuminated door sills can't be had?

Steve (the other one) ordered the illuminated door sills on his V10 but they were taken off the order guide after. He got his V10 without them but they tried to charge him for them, so i thought you couldn't get them either.
