New Owner - UK 2009 R8 V8 - Black

Hi all, it’s good to join a R8 owners club.

I have just purchased a brand new R8 V8 Black/Carbon Blades 2009.

It was an ‘Audi static Demo’ vehicle with every conceivable optional extra fitted including titanium wheels which I haven’t seen on R8’s before.

The car is absolutely everything what I expected and much more. I have never owned a car of such calibre before and it truly lives up to the hype.

I have just got home after 200mile trip back home and I it was the drive of my life.

Due to the bad weather I could not take any pics. I will put some up ASAP.

I wanted to ask you guys on the best practice for running in the car in terms of max rpm/miles etc.

Do you mean what is the best way to break in the engine? If you do there are a lot of different opinions on this, some say follow the manual, some say 'drive it like you stole it' etc there are some threads already about this, here's one:

R8 V10 engine break in (It's about a V10 but can't be too different for the break in right? )

Other than that can't wait to see your pics, a few other members have the same colour combo and there's look quite good.

Congrats on the new ride.

I'm one of the drive it like you stole it guys. (farther against the fence than most on this topic)

Once the car's warm - water AND oil temps, drive the car like you plan on driving the car for its' life.

The main thing to do with your new car is to ENJOY IT! Hopefully you'll drive it daily and get the same pleasure from it that we all have learned to enjoy from ours.

Owning an R8 comes with some funny "perks" if you will.

Be prepared for the cell phone stalkeratzi. They love to pull up along side you while driving down the road and snap pix. I always take my cell phone out and snap a pic of the person taking mine.

I hope you're not camera shy nor afraid of answering questions and fielding comments. The car you now own will make you the center of attention just about any and everywhere you go with it.

Remember, you're an ambassador for the machine - be nice and gracious to those that approach you.

Once again, congrats on the new ride. Now get out there and drive that thing!

Hello all,

Soon to be new owner (if Audi ever gives me a delivery date). I suspect the reference to titanium wheels refers to their color, not the material construction. The R8 configurator offers titanium colored five spoke wheels as a BTO option.

Hi, your right, it is the titanium colour rather than the material. The wheels really look good.

Titanium and black sure grows on you. VERY nice!! Better than BLACK wheels too !!
